1,198,932. Conveying fruit. ATLAS PACIFIC ENG. CO. 25 March, 1968 [29 March, 1967], No. 14304/68. Heading B8A. Fruit is fed from a bulk supply into single file relation on an endless conveyer 7 by being placed in a liquid trough at 41, the liquid being pumped around to circulate the fruit and thereby feed it into pockets of the conveyer. As shown, the liquid is pumped into the troughs through jets at 49 and 52, having been drawn out from the trough by a pump 46 connected to an outlet at 44. Height of liquid is regulated by an adjustable overflow gate 40. Baffles 53 and 62, direct the flow of liquid. The fruit is additionally urged into the pockets of the conveyer by the slope of a platform 21 (Fig. 4). For heavy fruit, flotation may be achieved by using a solution of salt or sodium carbonate. There may be a plurality of conveyers 7 in respect of one trough. |
