摘要 |
Prodn. of fracture stresses in glass comprises irradiating the glass along a sepn. line over a wodth of max. 0.15 mm with energietic electromagnetic radiation of power density at least 10 kW/aq. mm for a heating time of less than 125 millisecs. in a wavelength range in which the radiation absorption length is of the same order as the workpiece thickness. ADVANTAGE - The process is a contactless process (i.e. scoring is not employed), provides rapid and precise glass cutting even of complicated profiles and produces good fracture face quality with low splinter formation.
