The waste material, contg. plastics foils etc., is pushed by a press ram from a top supplied compression bar horizontally into the press duct, whose inlet has on top a cutting edge on a cutter beam, coacting with the press ram top edge face, on its entering the press duct, to form a shearing motion. Behind the cutting edge (11), the press duct (4) is widened into forming at least one shifting chamber, using a top cover face (14), whose size permits a preset free play for the press ram (5). Pref. the entering edge is formed on a cutter beam (12), whose rear side has an acute edge. ADVANTAGE - Faultless, long service operation, with expensive, complicated extra components.
