Prodn of fungicidal copper 8-hydroxyquinoline - phenolates

This fungicidal compound, especially useful for seed-dressing is produced by intensively stirring dry mixtures of (1) Cu-8-hydroxyquinoline with pentachlorophenol; or (2) 8-hydroxyquinoline with copper pentachlorophenolate; or (3) 8-hydroxyquinoline with Na-pentachlorophenolate (or pentachlorophenol) and a copper salt, such as oxychloride, chloride or sulphate. The process is simple and proceeds nearly quantitatively.
