PURPOSE:To improve the heat resistance and reduce the refractive index of an optical resin. CONSTITUTION:A resin comprising a fluorinated arom. compd. having a refractive index of 1.4 or lower is provided. Examples of the compd. include a fluorinated pitch and a fluorinated arom. compd. having not more than 7 rings. The fluorinated pitch is prepd. by reacting pitch with fluorine at about 0-350 deg.C, includes a transparent resinous fluorinated pitch, has a softening point, is easily moldable, can form a coating film by vapor deposition or coating, and is usable as a clad material of a light transmitting fiber, a surface protecting agent, etc. |
