CONSTITUTION:In an identification section 16, a multiplier 17 multiplies the belonging of the category group selected by a group selection section 14 by the entire group similarity obtained from a subdivided section 13 to which an input pattern signal is inputted from a subdivided input signal selection section 15. In a category similarity calculation section 18 selects several higher output values for each category to obtain the sum of these output values, which is taken as the similarity of each category to be outputted to a pattern discrimination section 19. The pattern discrimination section 19 uses the similarity of each category to discriminate and reject the category of input pattern signals.
