A grinding and dispersing apparatus comprises a vessel having one or more steel, rubber, or ceramic &c. stirring discs 2 which have from 2 to 10 curved slots, Fig. 2, or grooves or nibs, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown). The grinding media are corpuscles less than 3 mm. diameter. The discs are from 50 to 95 % of the inner diameter of the vessel and in operation rotate at at least 8 m/sec. The vessel is horizontal or at up to and including 45‹ to the horizontal. The slots on a disc each have a width from 5 to 15% of the disc diameter and a radius of curvature from 50 to 100 of the disc radius. A screen 5 is provided at the outlet. |
