PURPOSE:To effectively decide the intersection between the rays and an object without solving a complicated equation by searching the visual line passing through a picture element and the object intersecting the visual line by the Z buffer algorithm. CONSTITUTION:The display range is checked for each object on a screen 2 and a number of the object set in the forefront against a visual line 1 is stored in a P buffer I 4 for each pixel. At the same time, the number of the object having the least Z value is obtained based on a Z buffer 6. The object stored in the buffer I 4 shows the object that intersect first the rays on each pixel. Then the attribute of the object is checked for each pixel of the buffer I 4 so that whether a new ray is produced by the reflection or the transmission or not is decided. Then the number of the object if intersecting the ray is stored in a P buffer II 5. This operation is repeated until no object intersects the rays any more. When no ray is produced, the luminance of the relevant pixel is finally decided and written in a frame buffer 8. |
