[Also in Division A5] The novel compounds p-amino-N-(3-methyl- 2-pyridyl)-benzamide and p-amino-N-(5-methyl- 2-pyridyl)-benzamide and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof, are prepared by reacting a p-nitrobenzoyl halide with 2- amino-3(or 5)-methylpyridine in an inert solvent, reducing the p-nitro-N-(3(or 5)-methyl-2-pyridyl)- benzamide formed, and, if desired, converting the product into a suitable acid addition salt. |
