PURPOSE:To provide the retrieval and registration system which neither requires a mass-storage medium nor increases the load on a character information data base in order that the character information data base holds a retrieval result from an image information data base. CONSTITUTION:The image information data base 4-j is provided with a retrieval request allotting part 42 which receives a retrieval indication command transmitted from terminal device 1-i for retrieval use through a network 2 and allots it into character information and an image information retrieval request command, a character information retrieval indication transmission part 51 which transmits the character information retrieval request command to a character information data base 3, an character information retrieval result reception part 50 which receives the retrieval result of the character information transmitted from the character information data base 3, an image information retrieval part 43 which retrieves the image information according to the image information retrieval request command, and a retrieval result transmitting part 48 which transmits the retrieval result of the character information and the retrieval result of the image information to be terminal device 1-i for retrieval use through the network 2. |
