PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of a cleaning roller by forming an image for cleaning for an image part and a non-image part alternately on a transfer paper in a cleaning mode, inverting and feeding the transfer paper, and cleaning a lower fixing roller by the image for cleaning. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a slave CPU 35 which forms the image for cleaning of a specified image pattern on the surface of a photosensitive drum 1 as a means for cleaning the stain of the lower fixing roller 23 of a fixing device 20, an inverting and paper refeed means 30, and a master CPU 36, etc. The pattern of the image for cleaning which is formed on the surface of the drum 1 is obtained by equally dividing the roller 23 into N and making alternate squares solid black. A 1st pattern (a) where odd addresses (1, 3, 5) are made solidly black and a 2nd pattern (b) where even addresses (2, 4, 6) are made solid black are prepared for the spot. When entire surface of the outer periphery of the roller 23 is cleaned by the image for cleaning, curl and faulty fixing are prevented by a stripe pattern. |
