A heating installation consists of hollow piles 2 driven into the ground underneath a building. Water heated by solar panels 10 is directed (e.g. by means of a pump 14) to flow axially through said hollow piles, thus transferring the heat to the piles and to the ground surrounding the latter and thereby providing a heat store. A water delivery tube 6 extends into each hollow pile and terminates above the closed bottom end thereof Fig. 2. When required, the stored heat is recovered (e.g. for use in radiators 23 within the building), preferably with the aid of a heat exchanger 12 which transfers the heat to a circuit comprising a storage water heater 21 and the radiators 23. Said circuit may include a boiler 22. <IMAGE> |
