PURPOSE:To obtain the portable radio equipment in which a force exerted on an antenna when an external antenna 2 is extracted or retracted is equal to each other, the configuration of the antenna changeover means selecting the external antenna 2 or an internal antenna 7 is reduced and the switching operation is increased. CONSTITUTION:A slider 19 operated perpendicularly in a retracting/extracting direction of an external antenna 2 is provided on the equipment. Then an actuator 10 is activated by a rotor 20 converting the motion of the slider moved reciprocatingly in response to the retraction/extraction of the external antenna into the rotary motion and a conversion lever 20a provided on the rotor to change over an antenna changeover switch 9 used to make transmission reception connection to either the internal antenna or the external antenna 2.
