PURPOSE:To avoid the formation of a local cell between the negative electrode current collector and negative electrode zinc of a button type alkaline battery where mercury-less zinc is used as a negative electrode, and prevent the occurrence of hydrogen gas. CONSTITUTION:A metal film having higher hydrogen overvoltage than zinc is formed on the inner side 1a of a sealing plate 1 used as a negative electrode current collector in common, thereby preventing the formation of a local cell between the zinc as a negative electrode active material 2 and the negative electrode current collector. According to this construction, the occurrence of hydrogen gas is restrained, and a mercury-less button type alkaline battery free from the fear of expansion and fracture due to internally filled hydrogen gas can be provided. |
