PURPOSE:To convert a character string in an inputted sentence into reading having a meaning and to output the converted result by judging which foreign language corresponds to a foreign language character string included in an input sentence and converting codes indicating the pronunciation of the foreign language into codes indicating the pronunciation of a self-language. CONSTITUTION:A language judging part 1 judges the language of an input character string. When the input character string is a character string of a foreign language as the result of language judgement, a rule selecting part 2 selects a phonetic symbol formation rule corresponding to the language of the transmitted character string out of phonetic code formation rules 5 to 7 formed correspondingly to respective languages. A character sting/phonetic symbol conversion part 3 converts the character string of the language X into the phonetic symbols of the language X in accordance with the phonetic symbol forming rule selected by the selection part 2. Then a phonetic symbol mapping part 4 mapps the phonetic symbols of the foreign language received from the conversion part 3 into phonetic symbols to be used for the self-language in accordance with a phonetic symbol mapping rule 8. |
