PURPOSE:To speed up the input of a character string held between parentheses or tags by providing this sentence input device with a cursor position control means for moving an input position displaying cursor to a position determined between plural inputted characters. CONSTITUTION:When an operator requests the input of parentheses and depresses a specific key on an input part 11 which points out 'parentheses' on a screen, a parentheses input part 16 is started, all stored parentheses are displayed on the screen and opening and closing parentheses of the specified parentheses are stord in a document data part 14 and displayed on the screen. A parentheses/cursor control part 17 receiving information indicating the specification of the parenteses from the input part 16 applies an instruction to a cursor moving part 15 so as to return a cursor position forward only by the number of characters regulated about the parentheses. When the moving part 15 controls the cursor position in accordance with the specification, the cursor on the display screen is moved between the opening and closing parentheses. |
