PURPOSE:To optically control the forming density of the complicated image of an original based on the detected result of the density of a simple test image. CONSTITUTION:In an image forming device provided with an image carrier and a transfer body transferring the image on a recording material in cooperation with the image carrier, a prescribed developing condition is set(S101) and a test signal is generated(S102). Then, the test image based on the test signal is formed(S103 and S104) and the formed test image is read (S105). Based on the read result, a spatial frequency characteristic(MTF) is calculated(SS106 and S107). Until the maximum value of MTF is detected, S101 to S107 are repeatedly executed. When the maximum value of MTF is detected, the peak value of the obtained MTF is searched (S108). Then, the developing condition corresponding to the searched peak value is decided(S109). |
