The present invention relates to a motor vehicle gear lever, and more particularly to an articulation for such a lever. This lever which is articulated via a rotation pin to the end of a selector rod (30) is characterised in that the articulation pin (13) is secured to the lever (10) and is mounted in a bore (61) formed in a joining piece (60) to which the selector rod (30) is fixed, the said joining piece (60) as well as the lever (10) respectively including axial immobilisation members (72, 76), the shapes of which are complementary and which can be disengaged in a position (D) of the lever distinct from its positions of use (A, B, C).
