<p>This invention relates to genetically engineered eukaryotic organisms, such as yeast, that are made capable of detecting the expression of heterologous ion channels. These organisms include a potassium transport defective phenotype eukaryotic organism transformed with DNA that suppresses the potassium transport defective phenotype in the organism. A potassium transport gene is set out in Sequence Id. No. 1. This genetically engineered organism can be used to screen for new herbicides or drugs.</p> |
