<p>The invention relates to an article which is portable and capable of performing the function of an umbrella, comprising a shaft (1) and at either or both ends of the shaft, a fastening means which enables a canopy (3) or alternative implement as required to be attached to or detached from the shaft (1) to enable the apparatus to perform an alternative function. The invention is designed to enable those who travel to have with them wherever they go either on foot, in a car, in a plane or by any other mode of transport an instrument which is able to play a second role which will permit the traveller to partake of his work or recreational activity with the minimum of additional luggage or equipment as might otherwise be the case. The invention thus has the advantage not only of being portable but also convertible to the instrument of one's work or hobby, whilst at the same time, prior to conversion, appears like and performs the function of an everyday item of need. To the city businessman, for example, this camouflage provides much needed discretion without which a loss in credibility could result.</p> |
