<p>A steel beam (1) is reinforced by an attachment (A) which creates a moment (CM) to counteract loads (L) placed on the beam (1) when it is incorporated into a structure. The attachment (A) includes a tramitting member (9) which is secured to the underside of the beam and a tensioned cable (13) which is carried, in a tensioned state, by the transmitting member (9). The tensioned cable (13) compresses the transmitting member (9) creating an upward moment (CM) which is transmitted to the beam (1).</p> |
