<p>The invention pertains to a method and apparatus for cleaning thermoplastic material for reuse. Known methods and apparatus suffer from the drawbacks of requiring rinsing, dewatering, and thorough drying of the plastic, thereby contaminating significant quantities of water. The above problems are solved by providing a container (46) which receives batches of plastic including adherent label materials and adhesives, which materials agitated by a rotor (66) located within the container (46). A flow of air is through conduct (34), which flow carries away loosened labels and adhesives. A small amount of water is introduced into the container (46) through a nozzle (43), which water dissolves adhesives and softens remaining label materials, while loosened pieces continue to be moved in the flow of air.</p> |
