A portable seat (20) especially adapted for use as a baby seat has a portable base (21) with means (45, 55, 57, 59) for releasably attaching the base to the seat of a vehicle and a seat (23) supported by the base (21), connected between the portable base (20) and the seat (22) by which the seat (22) can move relative to the base (20) in a controlled manner to elevate the front and the rear of the seat in the same action as the seat moves forward such as occurs by inertia upon a sudden deceleration, the entire apparatus being self-contained and portable so that the apparatus can be removed or installed as desired. |
