Transferring foil and ink, pigment or toner compsns. comprising lacquer base material or plastic foils less than 2 mm. thick, pref. one or more of alkyd-, epoxide-, acrylic-, styrene-, cellulose nitrate-, polyester-, polyamide- or polyurethane-based cpd(s). modifiable using standard additives e.g. emulsifiers, film-formers, dyes, pigments etc. onto which patterns or inks have been applied by means of spreading, pouring, spraying, painting, printing, photocopying, laser printing or similar process onto permament substrates, is characterised by the following (i) compsn. has open and/or closed pores, which may be cracks and other similar fissures, (ii) pore widths are large enough to be permeable to the plastic dispersion, lacquer, resin soln. and solvent or alternatively these substances may dissolve the compsn. so that the pores are enlarged, allowing the foil to become permeable to these substances. Transferring the above foil/ink pigment or toner compsn. onto paper, plastic or cardboard substrate coated with antistatic agent, pref. silicone or stearate, whereby no adhesive is present between the substrate and the foil-less than 0.05 (pref. less than 0.03) mm. thick, then removing from the coated substrate and then binding the compsn. to permanent substrates so that the compsn. is dissolved from above and/or below by the resin soln., plastic dispersion, lacquer or solvent to give a compsn. having adhesive properties.
