Polymethylene sulphide is prepared by reacting a salt of trithiocarbonic acid with a methylene halide or formaldehyde or a precursor of formaldehyde. In examples polymers are prepared by reacting sodium trithiocarbonate and lithium trithiocarbonate with methylene chloride, methylene bromide and formaldehyde, with heat, in water, ethyl alcohol and carbon disulphide. |
