PURPOSE:To present a travel route as well as to detect any off-route in traveling in an easy manner. CONSTITUTION:A read-only memory 5, comparting a road of map data into a fixed length, giving a link number to each of the comparted road and storing these numbered road map data, and a travel link storage means 13 storing the travel link number corresponding to a current place corrected are installed in a route guidance system which has a map matching processing means 12 correcting the current place from the current position of a vehicle by means of a sensor 1 and map data and a route decision means 14 determining a passing route from both starting and destining positions. In addition, this route guidance system is provided with a route link number storage means 15 storing all the route link number corresponding to the determined route, and a link number comparing means 16 which compares the travel link number with the said route link number, and when there are some accordant ones, it is so judged that the current place is on the route, and when there is no accordant one, it is so judged that an off-route is the case. |
