PURPOSE:To produce allyl chloride at low temp. at high selectivity from propylene, hydrogen chloride and oxygen by oxychlorination method by using a catalyst consisting of a base metal oxide and tellurium alloy deposited on a carrier. CONSTITUTION:A base metal oxide (e.g. V oxide) and tellurium alloy (e.g. Te-Pd alloy) are deposited on a carrier (e.g. silica). Or the base metal oxide, tellurium alloy and an alkali metal salt (e.g. NaCl) are deposited on a carrier. By using this catalyst, allyl chloride is produced from propylene, hydrogen chloride and oxygen by oxychlorination method. Thereby, the reaction can be effected at low temp. and allyl chloride can be produced at high selectivity. Further, for chlorination, not chlorine but hydrogen chloride can be used. |
