摘要 PURPOSE:To provide the surface hardening method for titanium or titanium alloy which can provide a hardened layer having a sufficient thickness on the surface of a base material consisting of the Ti or Ti alloy with high adhesion and can sufficiently improve the wear resistance thereof. CONSTITUTION:A build-up material consisting of an Mo carbide alone or a mixture composed of the Mo carbide and the Ti or Ti alloy is used and is melted onto the surface of the base material consisting of the Ti or Ti alloy by irradiation with a high-density energy heat source so as to generate mixing with the base material, by which the surface of the base material consisting of the Ti or Ti alloy is built-up and hardened.
