PURPOSE:To provide the subject new compound capable of giving heat-sensitive recording materials excellent in picture image preservability. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of the formula (t denotes tertiary; Bu denotes butyl; Me denotes methyl), which can be obtained by reaction between a phenolic compound [e.g. 4,4'-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)sulfone] and a silylating agent (e.g. t-butyldimethylsilyl chloride) through agitation a whole day and night in the presence of a base such as triethylamine in a solvent such as ethyl acetate.
