PURPOSE:To provide the bulky yarn excellent in the shape-holding property, the water-retaining property, the sound-absorbing property, etc., by effectively utilizing a trimmed selvage yarn by-produced in the weaving process of a shuttleless loom. CONSTITUTION:The bulky yarn in which the periphery of the twisted and interlaced tissue is surrounded with fuzzy wefts is characterized in that a central section is woven in the interlaced tissue 2 and that the tips of the wefts 4 are formed into a cotton-like band 5 by opening, twisting and interlacing the tips of the wefts by the jetting of air in the wet state. The bulky yarn can be produced from the trimmed selvage yarn of a shuttleless loom as a raw material. Concretely, the trimmed selvage yarn in the wet state is allowed to travel and air is simultaneously jetted on the trimmed selvage yarn in the direction along the yarn to open, twist and interlace the tips of the wefts 4. When the bulky yarns thus produced are woven and a water-impermeable film is subsequently attached to one side of the woven fabric, a mat excellent in the water- holding property and the water-draining property is obtained. |
