RECYCLING METHOD FOR CARPET SCRAP

PURPOSE:To recycle carpet scraps as a forming material by adding moldified polyolefin at a specific quantity to carpet scraps consisting mainly of polyolefin and polyester and/or polyamide. CONSTITUTION:It is preferable that 80wt.% or more of carpet consists of polyolefin and polyester and/or polyamide. Modified polyolefin obtained by grafting unsaturated carboxylic acid or the derivative thereof are used as a compatible agent for these resin components. The additive quantity is determined to be 0.005-0.2 pts.wt. as a quantity of unsaturated carboxylic acid or the derivative thereof with respect to 100 pts.wt. of the total quantity of polyester and polyamide. Besides, in the case that the polyolefin is in a small quantity, polyolefin except modified polyolefin is added thereto, and it is preferable for their compatibility that polyolefin is employed more than any of other resin components. There are then kneaded and made into a formed article directly.
