PURPOSE:To activate the sulfurous acid-oxidizing ability of a microorganism useful for bacterial leaching, the deodorizing of a sulfur-relating substance, a highly sensitive sulfurous acid biosensor, etc., by treating the sulfurous acid- oxidizing microorganism of the genus Thiobacillus with a solution containing a chloride and/or a sulfate salt. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism (e.g. Thiobacillus.thioxidans JCM 7814) belonging to the genus Thiobacillus and having a sulfurous acid-oxidizing ability is added, stirred and suspended in a solution containing a chloride such as ammonium chloride or sodium chloride and/or a sulfate such as ammonium sulfate or sodium sulfate. The produced suspension is suitably mixed with a 5% NaOH aqueous solution to control the pH of the culture solution to 5.0, and subsequently subjected to the culture of the microorganism with stirring at 250rpm at 30 deg.C for 48 deg.C to activate the sulfurous acid-oxidizing ability of the microorganism belonging to the genus Thiobacillus. |
