PURPOSE:To obtain a light-weight, cheap carrier having high mechanical strength by melt-spraying Al on an expanded ferrite stainless steel thin plate without containing Al as the main alloy component, then processing this plate into a honeycomb structure, dipping the body in a soln. containing a La component, and heat treating the body at specified temp. CONSTITUTION:Al is melt-sprayed on an expanded ferrite stainless steel thin plate without containing Al as the main alloy component. This plate is further shaped into a wavy plate by corrugating, etc., and laminated with a plane thin plate having no wavy surface to form a honeycomb structure. Then the obtd. honeycomb structure is dipped in a Al soln. containing a La component and heat treated at 500-1200 deg.C. Thereby, purification of exhaust gas in the initial state of driving for automobiles or the like which uses combustion gas as the power source can be surely performed. |
