PURPOSE:To eliminate collapse of stripe pattern so as to make prints easy to read by providing a means for controlling a dot print means so as to perform dot printing of characters in accordance with stripe data. CONSTITUTION:A tape printing device 1 is provided with a keyboard 6 comprising character input keys 2 and function keys such as a print key 3, a character modification key 4, a stripe key 4A, a bold key 4B, an outlined character key 4C, and a calligraphic type key 5 for commanding formation of calligraphic type data from data of characters. In this tape printing device, stripe data is made by using stripe pattern data which is in common with dot data of the characters. Accordingly, even when the characters are printed with stripe in the calligraphic type, the stripe patterns will not be collapsed owing to overlap of them at lapping parts among the characters. Next, the stripe data is printed with dot through a dot print means to be controlled by a print control means. |
