PURPOSE:To improve mechanical strength and dimensional accuracy by firing a specific prepared material of earthenware raw material at a lower temp. than the rapid fusing temp. to enable to glaze thick. CONSTITUTION:The prepared material of earthenware raw material is obtained by mixing a clay mineral containing 7.5wt.% CaO and of a required quantity to allow to react with CaO, if necessary, with 1wt.% (Na2O+K2O) as an alkali component. The prepared material is molded and fired at the lower temp. (<=1100 deg.C) than the rapid fusing temp. As a result, the water absorption of the base is drastically enhanced compared with the conventional earthenware product and at the time of applying the glaze on the surface of the base in slurry state, thick glazing is possible and an appreciating beautiful glazed surface which is usually unable to obtain is formed on the surface of the earthenware product. |
