PURPOSE:To eliminate hydrocarbon at a low cost from a gas discharged from the purification step of a coke oven gas by sucking a hydrocarbon-contg. air near the opening area of an apparatus of the step, introducing the air into a recirculation line of a cooling gas in a coke dry-quenching apparatus, and thereby burning the hydrocarbon. CONSTITUTION:A red-hot coke 1 is put into the upper part of a cooling tower 1, cooled by being brought into contact with a cooling gas blown into the tower 1 by a blower 3, and discharged from the bottom of the tower 1. Separately a coke powder is removed by a dust remover 4 from the cooling gas going out through the upper part of the tower, heat is recovered from the gas by a waste heat boiler 2, and then the gas is recirculated to the cooling tower 1 by the blower 3. Hydrocarbon contained in the air present in and near the opening area of an apparatus of the purification step of a coke oven gas is burned by sucking the air to introduce it to a cooling gas recirculation line 5 which is installed before the waste heat boiler 2 of a coke dry-quenching apparatus. Thus, the hydrocarbon scattering from the opening area can be eliminated by a simple way. |
