PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material excellent in dot reproducibility and head abrasion preventing properties and enhanced in whiteness by using secondary flocculated kaolin specified in bulk density as the pigment in a thermal recording layer and the protective layer provided on the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material wherein a thermal recording layer is provided on a support, as the pigment in the thermal recording layer, secondary flocculated kaolin with a bulk density of 0.35g/cm<3> is used and, as the pigment in the protective layer provided on the thermal recording layer, kaolin is used. Bulk density is displayed as a wt.(g) per a definite volume (cm<3>) measured by putting pigment in a 10ml graduated cylinder to apply vibration to the cylinder until the volume of the pigment becomes constant and precisely weighing the pigment. A leuco dye is used alone or as a mixture of two or more kinds of ones and, as the leuco dye, for example, a triphenylmethane type dye, a fluorance type dye, a phenothiazine type dye and the like are used. |
