PURPOSE:To perform high-speed transmission and to perform the monitoring and control of a fault, etc., by remote operation by outputting monitor signal light with the same wavelength as that of excitation light, and multiplexing by synthesizing the main signal light with the monitoring signal light. CONSTITUTION:The transmission of a monitor signal from submarine optical terminal station transmission equipment 24 is performed by using a light source 114 for monitor signal of 1480nm wavelength band provided in a light booster amplifier 40. Thereby, the monitoring signal light can be transmitted to a downstream line by wavelength-superimposing the monitoring signal light on the main signal light. In such a case, a WDM coupler 100 for wavelength multiplex for the monitoring signal light and the main signal light is also used as a WDM coupler for excitation light to prevent the output of the light booster amplifier 40 from being decreased. Also, two Er doped fibers are used as a submarine optical amplification repeater 2. A light source for excitation of 1480nm wavelength band is used in each a Er doped fiber, and an initial stage is employed for forward excitation, and a rear stage for backward excitation. Thereby, it is possible to provide a low NF and high output simultaneously. |
