PURPOSE:To provide a cordless telephone system in which a vacant channel with weak noise strength can be selected as a speech channel in the ambient environment of both a fixed set and a mobile set. CONSTITUTION:The information of the vacant channels retrieved and stored by the fixed sets 6-8 are informed to the mobile sets 9-14 when an outgoing call is issued or an incoming call is received, and the mobile sets 9-14 select the speech channel with noise strength less than a threshold value as the speech channel, or the one with the minimum noise strength retrieved by at least the fixed sets 6-8 as the speech channel under the ambient environment of the mobile sets 9-14 out of the information.
