摘要 PURPOSE:To exactly detect a vehicle intruding to an intersection from a right- and-left direction which is difficult to confirm by providing a detection area switching means which switches the detection area of an obstacle detecting means so as to be widen to the right and-left direction at the intersection. CONSTITUTION:The transmission and reception direction of a pulse laser beam by a left radar head unit 4, and a right radar head unit 5 is changed when the radar head units 4 and 5 are driven by a motor 7, and detected by an angle sensor 8 from the angle of rotation of the motor 7. Then, an arithmetic unit 2 controls the operation of the motor 7 so that the left direction of the intersection can be scanned by the left radar head unit 4, and so that the right direction of the intersection can be scanned by the right radar head unit 5, that is, so that the right-and-left wide range can be scanned by the radar head units 4 and 5, when road information indicating the existence of the intersection is detected by a path face marker sensor 10. And also, the arithmetic unit 2 constitutes a danger state detecting means.
