PURPOSE:To improve the cycle life characteristic and the low-temperature characteristic by using ester family containing a specific ethyl as solvent for an electrolytic solution. CONSTITUTION:A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided with a negative pole 3 made of a carbon material capable of absorbing and releasing lithium ions and a positive pole 1 including a nonaqueous electrolytic solution and a lithium containing oxide. An ester containing propionic acid ethyl having a low solidifying point of ethyl carboxyl group in functional group is used as a solvent for nonaqueous electrolytic solution. At that time a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery with the cycle life characteristic and the low- temperature characteristic improved without the ether having a low oxidative degradation voltage being mixed therewith.
