The burner (34) opens into a combustion chamber (30) and operates with a high air excess. A combustion air fan (40) links the waste air source (1) to the combustion chamber via a first line (9, 10). To the convection heat faces (22) is coupled a flue gas duct (45), and a heat exchanger (49) is in parallel to the convection heat faces through which can pass a portion of the flue gas at its first side, bypassing the convection heat faces. Pref. the first exchanger side is coupled to first aperture (51), downstream of combustion chamber via a second line (50), and via a third line (52) to a second aperture in flue gas duct.
