In equipment for metering particles of chips or fibre material for pressing or moulding, fed out from a storage container into a filler or mould, the container used is divided into a number of feeding chambers, each of which has an outlet with at least one grid. For loading a stationary mould, the example shown has a filling carriage (1) running (A) on tracks (2) and filled from a container overhead (3), so as to fill the mould (4). The container (3) is divided into five vertical supply chambers (5a,5b,5c,5d,5e), each fitted with two grids (6a,6b) at the bottom outlet. Of these one grid (6a) is fixed whilst the other (6b) moves. The area and depth of the chambers (5a-5e) depend upon the size of the mouldings to be produced. When producing pallet skids, the grids of the chambers (5b and 5d) are lower than the others and they (5b,5d) form the ribs, whilst the others (5a,5c,5e) fill the feet areas. Moreover, the relevant chambers (5a,5c,5e) feed finer chips. The complete container (3) is moved vertically (B). ADVANTAGE - The arrangement enables a hopper or a mould to be filled with different materials, e.g., in the prodn. of pallet skids.
