1,186,271. Conduit for electric cables; two-part couplings. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 3 March, 1967 [8 March, 1966], No. 10210/67. Headings H2C and H2E. [Also in Division E1] A tubular plastic body for an electrical conduit system comprises a base portion 1 closed by a covering comprising two kinds of cover of which one kind 6 is held on the base at its ends transverse to the direction of length of the tube by overlapping parts (71) of the other kind of cover 7-14, these covers being screwed to the base. As shown in Fig. 5, covers 6 are secured to the base at their longitudinal edges by a snap connection consisting of elongated protuberances 17 which fit into elongated cavities 18 of the base, the connection being accessible for loosening only at its ends. Contact members (19) are provided on uninsulated conductors (20) in two of the continuous spaces located in base 1, so that contact cavities (21) lie behind the plug receiving apertures (16) of the covers (7, 70). Other covers 8, 11, 9, 10, 12, 13 provide closures for terminal portions, branch portions or comer portions of the tube. In other embodiments, the longitudinal edges of covers 6 and base 1 are shaped to engage one another without connection, or base and cover may be formed in one piece having a thin walled longitudinal edge so that cover 6 is pivotable. A plurality of narrow, independently detachable covers may be located in juxtaposition, each closing one or more spaces of the tube. Conductors for different purposes may be located in different spaces in the tubular body. |
