The camcorder for direct recording of video images includes detection of the camera shake e.g. via a mercury switch. The detected camera shake is compared with given parameters to allow the recording of the video image to be halted, with the camcorder automatically returned to an initial mode. The recording of the video images is only halted when the degree of camera shake exceeds a preset value or a given number of times.
