On a suction electrode device having an absorbent 56 for absorbing impurities from a surface to which the suction electrode device is fitted and with which an electrode 50 in the device is in electrically conducting connection there is disposed an element 60A which prevents the absorbent 56 from exerting an absorption effect upon the surface in the proximity of the electrode.
