The connection box is mountable on a grooved post of a lamp post with a pedestal (1) and a cover (2). The pedestal has a support (9), for electrical contacts (12), which is formed from a trolley which slides along grooves in the post. The trolley is able to move by itself and slide in the top of the post to be positioned with a first pair of holding plates (24,24') or to be completely removed from the slide and removed from the case. The covers (21,22) are able to lift up. The post is limited laterally in a longitudinal sense by two small inner surfaces (4,4') which have external faces with the covers (21,22). The internal faces of the lining each have a moulding (5,5') to allow access to the interior of the post along the length of its interior.
