In the redn. of NOx in exhaust gas contg. O2, esp. from i.c. engines, by adding reducing hydrocarbons (I) and reaction on a zeolitic catalyst (II), (I) are oxacyclohydrocarbons forming acetaldehyde-type mol(s). as an intermediate of thermal decomposition. (I) are pref. cyclic heteroalkanes or -alkene, pref. oligomerised acetakdehyde. (II) is a type H-ZSMS (module 90) zeolite (IIA) with ca. 2% WO3, twice Cu-exchanged.
