PURPOSE:To increase the apparent storage capacity of an external storage medium without reducing the processing speed of a master device. CONSTITUTION:A data compressing circuit 20 in an external storage control device 2 compresses writing data to be written in a flexible disk(FD) storge device 3 and outputs a compression identification(ID) signal to a flexble disk control circuit(FDC) control circuit 22. The circuit 22 controls an FDC 23 so as to record the compressed data and the compression ID code in an FD storage device 3. A data extending circuit 21 extends the compressed data read out from the device 3 in response to the compression ID signal outputted from the circuit 22. |
