The vehicle steering wheel shaft is rotatable in the column body (4), and both are angularly and axially displaceable between two fixing structures (5) which can lock (6) the body and shaft in position. The steering wheel is movable (8) between locked and unlocked positions to allow adjustment by the driver. At the other end of the fixing structure is a body guide bearing. The wheel adjustment (8) is connected to the lock by a cable (9), and comprises a lever, activated by the user, and pivoted on a support hinge. This is assisted by an electric reduction motor (10). ADVANTAGE - Enables easy activation of the steering wheel adjustment lever.
